Guidance for pelvic floor relaxation
(Before and during dilator use) Did you know that using visualisation and breathing techniques can help relax the pelvic floor muscles? Your body’s nervous system helps to relax and destress the body. Training it by using these breathing techniques can help to relax the pelvic floor muscles. We recommend you use breathing techniques for no longer than 15 minutes.
Here’s how to use your Amielle® Comfort vaginal dilators
- Twist and lock handle onto dilator. Apply lubricating jelly to the tip of the dilator and to your vaginal opening.
- Relax as best as possible. Using controlled breathing, slowly ease the dilator into the vagina going as deeply as is comfortable. Since the vagina slants upwards and towards your back, the dilator should be angled upwards and in the direction of your back during insertion. Leave the dilator in position for as long as you have been advised by your healthcare professional.
- Remove gently and slowly. You may experience some clenching as you remove the dilator. This is normal. Continue to focus on your breathing to help your muscles relax. Remember this is a personal journey. Be kind to yourself and go at your own pace.
